8) Skymaster Nose Gear Steering Rods
You didn’t come this far to stop

We have seen a number of bent and distorted nose gear steering rods p/n 1542008-1 and 1542008-4. Often this bending is due to the nose gear being turned beyond safe limits. One of the problems is a bent steering rod cannot be seen from the outside of the aircraft and the next time you taxi your aircraft it may not respond as it should. Our recommended solution is to place a mark on your aircraft showing the safe maximum deflection of the nose wheel. The 0-2A aircraft have a line painted from the second side cowling cam lock down to the nose strut with the words, “MAXIMUM NOSE WHEEL DEFLECTION”. You could put this on your Skymaster or at least add a mark on the second side cowl cam lock and then point it out to your ground handling crew.
Commodore Aerospace Corp has new surplus and good used nose gear steering rods, nose gear shimmy dampers, nose gear bungees and all other Skymaster parts.
